Stationary sawn-timber dryers are available with loading volumes between 50 and 250 m³. Depending on the type of wood, the initial moisture, the final moisture content, the thickness of the boards and the introduction of external heat, the annual throughput can be up to several thousand m³.
The skin of the building consists of a corrosion free aluminium structure covered with a transparent, insulating envelope of 3-layered blister foil or polycarbonate ribbed double sheets. The floor of the shed may be optionally concrete, asphalt or compound concrete blocks.
The heat source for the air heaters may be, for example, the waste heat from an district heating power station or wood-burning furnaces. In addition, solar energy is exploited as a free source of heat through solar absorbers integrated in the building.
The fully automatic Climate Control drying control system is based on a Siemens PLC with display.
